In a colorful reception reminiscent of the richness of both cultures, His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, graciously received the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Chief Gani Adams, and his distinguished entourage at Aghofen, Palace of the Olu of Warri.
Acknowledging the historical ties between the Oyo kingdom and Warri kingdom, Chief Gani Adams pledged to in his capacity strengthen bilateral relations between both cultures. He further commended the Warri Kingdom for its resourceful king with a rich profile, urging Itsekiri sons and daughters to unite with Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, for the growth and development of Iwereland.
His Majesty, speaking through Chief Brown Mene, affirmed the historical ties between the Itsekiri, Yoruba, and other ethnic groups in the country, adding that the aboriginal settlements of Itsekiri encountered by Olu Ginuwa were drawn from various ethnic groups, including the Yoruba. He expressed gratitude for the visit and prayed for the growth and development of both nations.
